And the job placement is....

Advanced Electronics/Computer Field

So what is that- was my first question. Here is a general definition: The Navy's Advanced Electronics/Computer Field (AECF) offers extensive training in all aspects of electronics including computer systems, radar, communications systems, and weapons fire control systems such as the Navy's advanced Aegis radar and missile system.

He spend all day at MEPS and I have been up since he left so we are about to call it a night. Maybe this will all sink in tomorrow :)

Let the journey begin!

Signed, Stamped, and Ready for Committement

The day is almost here! This time tomorrow we will know my hubby's job placement and dates for boot camp and location of A school. What an exciting time!

Today we spend the majority of the afternoon in the recruiter's office completing the last measurement, final paperwork and last minute preparations for tomorrow's big events. Boy that was a lot of paper work, recalling dates of employment, birthdays,etc..

I took this picture of the hubby finalizing by signing his life away on the huge amount of paperwork he completed.

I am anxious, excited, nervous, and happy to find out what he will be doing tomorrow! We have been waiting for this day for 6 months so there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Check back tomorrow for an update on his job placement!

The Beginning of the Journey

Hello! I previously started a blog when my hubby and I got married last fall but failed. We bought a house, school got busy, I started a masters and among other things kinda forgot about it. I decided to get it a try again but this time to document our journey as we go from civilians to a family in the Navy. Let's see how this goes. Wish me luck!

So I honestly do not even know if people will even read this but at least I will have this for myself. One day I can look back and laugh at this crazy journey we are embarking on together!

So basically my husband has been tossing around the idea of joining a branch of service since a year ago (yes the process is not easy). He researched all the branches and compared enlisted and reserves, broke it all down for me, talked to a number of recruiters and finally decided he wanted to go into the Navy. Why the Navy you ask. Well he is interested in gaining more education and possibly getting into the field of healthcare and he found so many opportunities in the Navy. Yes I know until his job placement at MEPs he will not know if he will be going into the field of healthcare. We both spoke to the local Navy recruiter and discussed what it would take, discussed the options that would be presented, etc.

So basically the journey into the Navy started 6 months ago. He first thought about going officer but decided he needed more experience. He is going enlisted then plans to apply for officer once he completes some military training. After talking to the recruiter he took the ASVAB and some language test that he said was the hardest thing he ever took we are currently playing the waiting game. The waiting game has consisted of paper work, processing forms, weight control, and exercising a lot.

So basically at this point we are waiting for MEPs and processing on Monday to find out what job he will take, when he will go to boot camp, when and where A school will be, etc. So stayed turned!

Follow me as we embark and set sail into the future together! Say some prayers for job classification at MEPs even though I know he will do amazing at whatever job he is given! As I continue to remind myself to take breaths it will all be okay!
